Frequently Asked Questions

Prince of Wales College is a national school governed by the Ministry of Education. For Grade 1 admissions, parents should adhere to the admission procedures outlined by the government for the upcoming academic year. Similarly, for Grades 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, and 10, applicants can follow government announcements and apply for internal grades if vacancies exist, in accordance with government gazettes. From Grades 1 to 5, all subjects are taught in the Sinhala medium. However, from Grade 6 to 11, there is a separate class specifically for English medium students.
It offers education from primary level up to advanced level (Grade 1 to Grade 13).
The college offers a wide range of subjects streams including mathematics, science, technology, commerce, and arts.
After the ordinary level student can choose advanced level subjects referring the following streams. Applications are called via online through this site. After a successful interview Streams conducted are Science (Sinhala and English ) Commerce, Arts and Technology. Further information is available when applications are called.
The sports categories at Prince of Wales College encompass a wide range, including team sports, individual sports, aquatic sports, combat sports, racquet sports, mind sports, and target sports. Skillful students are selected from Grade 3, and many have excelled in various All Island and international events.
